Background
Creo's
technical Library is an Intranet-based "portal"
into documentation for supporting their many hardware and
software products. It allows for access to about ten thousand
files.
Challenge
Users
of the site were a disperate group covering LAN-based support
staff and engineers, as well as remote dial-up connected field
engineers. They all needed a clean and uncluttered interface
to the technical documentation and troubleshooting information,
in order to do their jobs of keeping customer's machines up
and running. The cost of a large printing press being "hard-down"
can cost up to $10K per hour, so the support staff are under
a great deal of pressure.
Solution
Design
a fast-loading dial-up optimised interface that worked hand-in-hand
with a scalable information architecture.
